Sample Assignment: Deep Dive Final Source List
Part 1: Sources Organise
For this project, you will need to use at least 10 sources
- 1 scholarly peer-reviewed journal article (from the library)
- 3 encyclopedia/reference entries (from Credo); you may want to use more sources from the internet
- 1 popular media source (such as the New York Times, APnews, Reuters, or a local news publication) which can provide context and more recent information
- 5 entries of your choice from professional, trade, or non-profit organizations
Reminder, though you might use AI to locate articles or brainstorm, you cannot use anything generated by AI in your deep dive project.
Once you’ve chosen your sources, you need to read each carefully and take notes. You’ll present your sources by creating a SOURCE LIST for your project. For each source, you need to include:
- Source name
- Date you accessed the source and used the source (read and took notes)
- Link to the source (remember, to use the share link or permalink for library items)
- APA citation for the source (can generate this with AI or a citation helper)
- 1 paragraph that summarizes what the source is and says
- 1 paragraph that explains how the source was useful in creating your presentation
- 1 paragraph on why you chose this source
You have 3 choices in how you present your sources.
Option 1: a table

Option 1: table
Create and complete a table for your sources:

Option 3: Slidedeck and recorded presentation
Setup a slide deck with 11 slides:
Slide 1: intro slide with title, your name and date, your deep dive question
Slide 2-11: Add the name of the author, the source title, the link to the source, and the citation.
Once you are done with the slidedeck, record yourself talking about each source, including what the source is and says, how it connects to your project, and why you chose it
**Turn in both the slidedeck/presentation AND your recording by uploading the video to your CUNY OneDrive and then copying the link (be sure to set the file to shared for anyone with the link to access). Submit the link and the slidedeck/presentation file to BrightSpace.
