Introducing New Assessment-Data Management Librarian: Brian Winterman

We are excited to welcome Brian Winterman as the new Assessment-Data Management Librarian at the Library!
In this role, he will research, plan, and implement new Library initiatives, as well as evaluate and reconceptualize existing services, collections, space allocation, outreach efforts, policies, and administrative procedures. He will also serve as liaison librarian for Biology and Anthropology. Brian joins us after spending over twenty years at Indiana University Bloomington Libraries, where he most recently served as Information Literacy and Assessment Librarian. Before that, he served at various times as Librarian in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Nursing, Classical Studies, and Geography.
Brian brings rich experience with assessment in many areas, including information literacy, writing, student success, library collections, faculty work and research habits, teaching practices, academic space use, program and curriculum design, and preparing future faculty. In particular, Brian’s collaborations in teaching and learning assessment are extensive and involve stakeholders at all levels and from myriad disciplines.
Mr. Winterman has consulted on course and assignment design, as well as development of associated learning outcomes. He has led several program-level curriculum reform and assessment efforts. Finally, he brings to Lehman fifteen years of experience as faculty member of writing in Biology, and as consultant and trainer for other writing instructors.
Brian expresses his enthusiasm about sharing and applying his experiences here at Lehman, and building collaborative partnerships in the Library and across campus. We look forward to working and learning alongside him.
