Accessibility

This section gives an overview of how to make OER created with Pressbooks accessible to learners with diverse needs. It includes the following chapters:

  1. Web Accessibility and Universal Design
    In this chapter, you will learn what web accessibility is, who it benefits, and how it relates to universal design.
  2. Text and Image Readability
    In this chapter, you will learn best practices for making course materials readable, including using heading levels, true lists, alt text and captions, descriptive link text, and accessible colors and fonts.
  3. Accessible Tables
    In this chapter, you will learn how to define header cells in tables.
  4. File Format and Software Choice
    In this chapter, you will learn about the accessibility considerations related to a resource’s file format and the software used to access it.
  5. Online Accessibility Tools
    In this chapter, you will learn about tools you can use to check the accessibility of the OER you create with Pressbooks.
