Career Exploration

Note: if the students have earned their Lehman Know How badge they will have already started contact with the career exploration and development center by logging into Handshake. You can have them do more in Handshake by searching for jobs on campus or internship opportunities.

More self exploration

Students should watch the introductory video to the Career Exploration and Development Center.

1. 1. Go to Handshake login
   2.  Use your CUNY login.
   3.  Complete your profile
   4.  Explore Handshake

   Review the results. Write a brief reflection on what you learned including what matched what you already thought, what surprised you, and how you might use Focus 2 for in the next year. Submit the reflection.

   Note:

   1. 1. 1. Beyond this exercise please use this account to further develop your career planning and learn everything about the career(s) you are interested in based on your results.
         2. Make sure you schedule an appointment with your Career Specialist via Navigate for assistant with your career planning

   The accounts should already be set up.   If the students have a problem, have them email their assigned career counselor through Navigate.  More information is available here: https://www.lehman.edu/career-services/index.php    

   Once students login they should do the self-assessment. They should submit a copy of the results as part of their homework.   If you want to explore careers in more depth you are very welcome to work with the CEDC to schedule additional services, to ask the students to create a resume and have it reviewed, or to explore the other resources..
