Writing

Writing is an essential academic skill in college. Most students in LEH 250 will be taking an English Composition course or an ESL course at the same time, and LEH 250 is not a writing course. However, it is important that students write. As an academic skill they need to learn and to practice. Students can definitely benefit from short low stakes writing opportunities in class or independently. Writing takes many different forms, including essays, scripts for presentations, and journal entries. Even annotations on the annotated bibliography are are kind of writing. Another way that students improve their writing it by reading a lot, especially good writing. LEH 250 is a great course to have students read well-written and interesting works.

The materials in this section focus on topics such as understanding the different kinds of writing and how to understand what faculty are asking for in a writing assignment. They also talk about having a process for writing including leaving adequate time to prepare.
