Students working in the library

This chapter is about information, misinformation, and library skills. Many Lehman students have not been taught to do library research, especially not research for college level work. At the same time, the idea of “doing your own research” has led to belief in conspiracy theories and other misinformation. Confirmation bias is one of the most useful ways to think about this. Becoming a critical thinker and information user means attempting to overcome our natural inclination to think that ideas we agree with are correct.
