26 How to get your old materials into your new Brightspace course

If you have previously taught LEH 250 you may want to import some of your materials into your new Brightspace course for this semester.

As part of the migration process, IT has imported several years of your prior courses into Brightspace without the associated student records.   However you need to search for them since they are not Fall 2025 courses.

Switch to the “All” tab and then if you don’t see your courses, click “View All Courses.”

Now find your course and check it to make sure you materials are where you expect them to be.  Keep track of which specific elements  you want to copy.  Most likely you do not want to copy everything since we have already imported some materials into your course shell.

Now go to your new course. Go to Course Admin.   Find Import/Export/Copy components and Click on it.

Indicate that you want to Copy Components from another Org Unit.

Your other course is the Org Unit.

You will have to search for your course and select it.

Select the course you want to import from

Select whether you want to copy all or some. Most likely you do not want to Copy All.

Indicate which components you want to import.

Then confirm and continue with the importing.

You will want to check all imported items to be sure that they are what you wanted and placed where you want them.
