ACCES Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS)

The ACCES Pre-ETS Program exists to ensure that students with disabilities have access to opportunities for meaningful and inclusive employment. The program provides academic and vocational support, and helps students to succeed in both school and the workplace.

Students are encouraged to apply if they meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • 22 years old or under
  • Have a disability that affects employment
  • Does not have an open case with ACCES-VR
  • Currently registered for classes at LaGuardia

Documentation of a disability is required, and may come in the form of a 504 plan, IEP, letter from a doctor, or other documentation from a medical/mental health professional.

Once enrolled in the program, students may use one or more of the following services:

  • Job Exploration Counseling: Students work with a career advisor to identify their interests and strengths, explore career options, and find out what jobs may be the best fit.
  • Work-Based Learning Experience: Students gain real-world experience through paid internships. The stipend for an internship is over $2500 when a student works the maximum number of allowable hours.
  • Counseling on Opportunities for Enrollment: Students may opt for supplemental academic advising services, as well as guidance on future education/training opportunities.
  • Workplace Readiness Training: Students develop essential skills to help them succeed in school and the workplace. They may receive assistance with time management, organization, social skills, resume writing, interviewing and more!
  • Instruction in Self-Advocacy: Students are equipped to advocate for their needs in school and in the workplace (and life in general!) To sign up or learn more about ACCES Pre-ETS, students should complete the online interest form, stop by M-141 or call (718) 482-5446.
