Dedication
To every student who believes in the power of data to tell meaningful stories and improve health outcomes, this book is for you.
Acknowledgments
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to my former professors at the CUNY Graduate School of Public Health & Health Policy (CUNY SPH), Dr. Christian Grov and Dr. Sean J. Haley. Their mentorship helped shape my understanding of how to evaluate the effectiveness of clinical programs, interpret health outcomes, and meaningfully connect variables such as X and Y to a defined target population. Their guidance laid the foundation for the core concepts in this book.
I am also deeply thankful to my colleague and dear friend, Dr. H. Jonathon Rendina, whose expertise and guidance have profoundly influenced my academic journey. From survey development and measurement design to constructing data tables and conceptualizing research papers, his insight has been invaluable in helping me think like a researcher and communicate like a scientist.
This book is a reflection of the knowledge I have gained from these brilliant minds and the support of a strong academic community. Funded in part by the CUNY Open Educational Resources (OER) Initiative.
