Basic Skills Proficiency Requirements
The City University of New York and Medgar Evers College have developed basic skills proficiency standards that must be met by all students. All first-time admitted students, freshmen, and transfer, must take the CUNY Mathematics placement exam, and in some cases the Reading and Writing Skills Assessment Tests before being allowed to register for any courses. The results of the tests will determine placement into or exemption from the non-credit basic skills courses. Specific information regarding these tests may be obtained from the Testing Office which administers the exams to all entering students.
