Objectives

1. Demonstrate knowledge of historical and cultural contexts of the Middle Ages.
2. Recognize musical styles of the Middle Ages.
3. Identify important genres and uses of music of the Middle Ages.
4. Aurally identify selected compositions of the Middle Ages and critically evaluate their style.
5. Compare and contrast music of the Middle Ages with today’s contemporary music.
