We realize that starting college can be overwhelming but exciting! In this section, you will find a list of essential tools and resources designed to help students navigate LaGuardia with confidence. From academic support to communication tools, we cover everything you need to get started.

Getting started with My LaGuardia

One of the first tools that you will be using is My LaGuardia. A key feature of My LaGuardia is keeping track of your GPA (Grade Point Average) and the number of credits you earned for your major. In your academic profile, you will find a direct link to Degree Maps to ensure you are on track with your degree plan. To have easy access to essential tools and information, download the LaGuardia mobile app from the Apple Store or Google Play. You can view your course schedule, navigate campus with the maps directory, and stay informed about events on campus. Additionally, the app offers a digital ID for easy access to campus services.

Setting up your student email

Your student email is one of the most critical resources you will use during your academic career. Since you will be receiving updates and important information from your professors and the college, you must have access to your college’s email system and check it daily. Your email account must be activated in order to gain access. Step-by-step instructions are below for setting up your new email account using Microsoft Authenticator.

Engaging with Course Materials: CUNY Blackboard

After setting up your student email, the next essential platform you will interact with is CUNY Blackboard. Through Blackboard, you can access course materials, interact with assignments, and monitor your academic progress. It is important to note that while Blackboard is a critical resource for many courses, not all professors may choose to use it. Therefore, it is important to confirm with your instructors whether Blackboard will be used in your courses. To familiarize yourself with Blackboard and its many features, please watch the following video:

Understanding how to navigate and use Blackboard effectively will enhance your ability to stay organized and succeed in your courses. Talk to your professor at the beginning of the semester to ensure you have access to all necessary materials and understand how Blackboard will be used.
