Reading Annotations

Leave at least TWO substantial comments on Pericles’ Funeral Oration

Reading Journal

Thucydides was a Greek historian who sought to present a history of the Greek past that was based on historical sources and did not explain or attribute past events to the workings of deities.     For this entry, think about how you as an historian should use his history of the Peloponnesian Wars with specific reference to the account of Pericles’ speech.  What does this text tell us about Pericles or Athens at the time?  What are the sources limitations?
